London(web team): When it comes to divorce, it is not as black and white as it may sometimes seem. And some people are paying the price of marriage, and we aren’t talking wedding cakes and dresses. They are actually paying out much larger lump sums of cash to those that they were once married too. These are some of the most expensive divorces ever. Alimony is the gift that keeps on giving, and for some of these divorcees, working and worrying is out the window, because of how much they are getting. When a judge orders how much to pay, the money slide in easy as butter ,or else.
1. Silvio Berlusconi
The once Prime Minister is said to pay his ex-wife $4 million per month. She gets these checks each month and can spend them on whatever she would like, including the bills and any lavish luxuries she would like to afford considering he also pays for some of the mortgage and the upkeep on vehicles that she drives around. Talk about hefty, expensive divorces. And there is not time limit, she will be receiving alimony forever.
2. Charlie Sheen
Paying out over $1.3 million each year in child support and alimony, he is making sure that his children live “the” good life. Not only does half go to one women, but two different women, who have two different kids each by Charlie are being paid money as well. Talk about gaining big bucks like Fiddy said ” have a baby by me baby and be a millionaire”.
3. Jim Nantz
Currently paying out over a million each year between child support and alimony payments, alimony makes sure that his ex-wife has enough money to get by each and every year and then some. As a CBS sportscaster, you know he is making good money and this is why the judge ordered that he pay so much to the ex-wife and the children that he has fathered. The judge wanted to ensure that they get to experience the fruits of his labor.
4. Nas
Nas is one of the most popular NYC rapper, creating a huge following in the 90′s. However, his divorce has cost him a lot of that rap career money. He pays over $40,000 a month in child support, which has been reported to be lowered to $25,000 a month, for now. He is also paying another mother for another child that he had fathered sometime before 2009.
5. Russell Simmons
Not only does he pay child support for his two children, around $40,000 per year but he spends additional money on them by paying for a vehicle that they use to be transported. The upkeep for this costs around $60,000 a year. As for additional alimony payments, these were not disclosed but there continues to be checks passed back and forth between the two. 6. Mel Gibson
Paying out up to $20,000 per month to once wife Oksana for their daughter Lucia, he is also paying another ex-wife for alimony. She was also paid about half of his $850 net worth during their divorce and she also has rights to any future money that he is said to make on past endeavors while married to her. This means she is going to be one wealthy woman . Not to mention that Gibson has 8 kids in total, I hope he has college funds started.
7. Martin Brodeur
A goalie for the New Jersey Devils, he has reportedly had one ugly divorce. And its going to cost him a good portion of his cash. He has to pay $500,000 every year in alimony to his ex-wife, as well as $11,000 each month in child support for his children. If this is not enough, he has to also pay for additional costs that the family may incur while living within their family home. Talk about expensive!
8. Ted Danson
Danson is known for his role in the television show Cheers, but he also played in many other shows and movies. During his legal battle, he was ordered to pay his ex-wife $30 million dollars. This was a big win and pay out for his now ex-wife as she walked away with a lot of the money. The judge found it right to pay out millions of dollar, you have to wondering if it was justified. Let’s hope Danson has more acting up his sleeves to keep him afloat.
9. Michael Douglas
When it comes to making great movies, Michael Douglas does this and does it well. His wife, or ex-wife now, also knows how to win legal battles and win, when it comes to divorce court winnings. He was ordered to pay her $45 million after their divorce and she is also entitled to any future earnings on things he worked on during their marriage. Talk about the come up. She now has enough money to make it rain… if she wants to.
10. James Cameron
The production of Titanic was a successful to say the least, but Cameron had to shell out over half of his earnings from the film – around $50 million to his ex-wife. Not only was she satisfied with this, but she went on to say that he was a miserable man and that she could not stand being married to him any longer. This is when she took the money and ran. Perhaps that money will help her find her true “Jack.”
