Paris, Aug 19 - France Monday said it had not been involved in air strikes against militia positions in Tripoli, reiterating support for diplomatic solution to end conflicts and stop political vacuum in the country.

Reports on air strikes in Libya in which France participated, are unfounded, Xinhua quoted the Quai d'Orsay spokesperson Romain Nadal as saying.

France's priority is to reach a political agreement to cease the fighting in Tripoli, Benghazi and across Libya. We support the mediation and call on all parties to be involved, he added after a daily e-briefing.

An unidentified fighter jet launched air strikes against Islamist militants in Tripoli earlier Monday, killing five and injuring several others, according to reports.

Since July 13, the African country plunged into chaos following deadly clashed between Libyan forces and Islamist militants in Tripoli and Benghazi where at least 102 people have been killed, most of them civilians.
