Pace legend Wasim Akram has said that he would be 'thrilled' to witness a 'lefties' showdown' at Adelaide Oval, when Pakistan take on Australia on Friday in their quarterfinal clash.

The Adelaide showdown would showcase a horde of left-arm pacemen, with Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc being the current leading wicket-taker, with 16 wickets in the tournament. While Mitchell Johnson (9) and James Faulkner (3) would form Australia's left-bowling trio, Wahab Riaz (14) and Rahat Ali (7) would be geared up for Pakistan.

Akram said that it 'excites him no end', adding that it was 'sort of novelty' during his time, and he would be the most excited person at Adelaide Oval, the Dawn reported.

Describing Starc as the best performer of the tournament, Akram said that the pace bowler has 'height, swings the ball and that is why he is so successful'.
