Birdman swept the Oscars winning top honours including Best Film, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Cinematography. Three awards in the bag for The Grand Budapest Hotel and Whiplash each. After snubs in the Best Director and Best Actor category, Selma wins Best Original Song to a standing ovation.

Welcome to our live coverage of the Oscars 2015! Hollywood's awards season culminated today with the Academy Awards held at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris. As expected, JK Simmons won best supporting actor for Whiplash while Patricia Arquette won best supporting actress for Boyhood. The Grand Budapest Hotel has three wins in the bag while Whiplash has won two.

Alejandro G. Iñárritu's satire Birdman and Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel lead the nominations this year with nine nods each. Fan favourite The Imitation Game, starring Benedict Cumberbatch as British World War II code-breaker Alan Turing, has eight nominations. Among the actors, Eddie Redmayne wins the face off with Michael Keaton in the best actor categories.

Boyhood and Birdman are set to it out for top honours of best film and best director. Boyhood, Richard Linklater's coming-of-age tale about childhood, which took 12 years to complete, initially looked to score some major trophies but has faced tougher battle with Birdman, American Sniper' and Selma's names being thrown in the mix by critics.
