New Delhi(IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday extended his greetings to the nation on the occasion of Maha Shivratri.

“Greetings to all on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri,” Modi said in a statement.

Millions of devotees across the country celebrate the Maha Shivratri festival Tuesday.

The festival is believed to celebrate the wedding of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Devotees stay awake all night, singing hymns and prayers, to seek Lord Shiva’s blessings.

Temples witnessed long lines of devotees since early morning to offer prayers, flowers and fruits.

Good wishes: Kejiwal

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Tuesday wished people on the occasion of Maha Shivratri.

“Good wishes to all of you on Maha Shivratri,” Mr. Kejriwal tweeted.
