The White House on Thursday said it has not been able to confirm reports that Islamic State is responsible for recent attacks in Tunisia, but that the nature of the attacks are consistent with violence the militant group has previously practised.

The White House on Thursday said it has not been able to confirm reports that Islamic State is responsible for recent attacks in Tunisia, but that the nature of the attacks are consistent with violence the militant group has previously practised.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters that counterterrorism adviser Lisa Monaco called her counterpart in Tunisia on Thursday to offer assistance.
